Ballyfermot civic area set for revamp
Apr 25th, 2008 | By Editorial Team | Category: NewsBallyfermot is set to get another new enhancement with plans to see the area around the Civic Centre redeveloped.
The development of the area, to take place at the back of the Civic
Centre has been hailed as a “fantastic project” by Joe Garland who is
the manager of the Ballyfermot Civic Centre.
Although plans for the site are still to be worked out everyone
involved is confident that building work will commence at the end of
this year.
The site, which is due to be completed in the summer of 2009, will be
divided into three coloured zones with a series of super sized arch
structures defining each area.
The red zone will be used as a ‘fun’ area where local people can
use the area as a meeting point. The second zone, the blue zone, will
be a blue paved surface, while the
last zone, the yellow one, will be used as a children’s play area.
There will be also a number of neighbourhood garden areas where the local community can come and mix with one another.
Speaking to the Ballyfermot Post Joe Garland was keen to stress just what a wonderful
opportunity this is for the people and the community of Ballyfermot.
“This is wonderful for the area” he said. “This project will bring this
area to town standards. It will bring the whole community together and
is a fantastic project plus everyone in the community is behind it”.
Telmo Andrade of CSR, the company behind the project echoes the
sentiments of Mr Garland and feels that the new site will be a
wonderful addition to Ballyfermot.
“I feel this development is a stepping stone for Ballyfermot. There has
been a huge amount of interest from the local people; especially the
young people and we look forward to working with the people of
Ballyfermot”
